Julia Piker is an award winning Ukrainian-American composer, songwriter and producer who has brought her talents to many projects across television, film and visual media. She is most known for her work contributing additional music to FX’s Murder At The End of The World starring Clive Owen and Brit Marling, Amazon’s Outer Range produced by Amazon Studios and Hulu’s Unbanned: The Legend of AJ1 which premiered at the Tribeca Film festival in 2019.
Her most recent co-score for Duplass Brothers Production’s Penelope, is premiering at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival as part of the Episodic Pilot Showcase. Recently, Julia garnered attention from The Newport Film Festival for her score for D’Marie Production’s Copyright Infringement. Julia’s other projects include Netflix’s Pepsi,Where’s My Jet? produced by Boardwalk pictures and Hulu’s The Curse of Von Dutch: A Brand To Die For. She has been an additional music composer to team Danny Bensi & Saunder Jurriaans for several years, contributing music for critically acclaimed projects like Netflix’s Ozark, and Paramount +’s Tulsa King.
Julia has written dozens of songs for television and film including Nickelodeon’s Blues Big City Adventure, The Loud House Movie, Alvinnn!!! and the Chipmunks and Monster High. Julia’s debut score EP, Samovar, premiered on Spotify and all digital platforms on June 10, 2021. Julia’s lush vocal textures paired with her pop songwriting sensibilities have greatly influenced her writing style. She previously released her first solo EP, Biting Biding, in June 2017, which led to sync placement in the UFC Documentary Origins of the Octagon from the creators of Netflix’s The Last Dance.
Julia traces her musical roots back to her grandfather, who was an accomplished musician in the Russian Philharmonic. Before diving fully into score music, Julia worked as staff composer at Pulse Music in New York City. There she scored commercials for brands such as AT&T, Charmin, BMW, IBM, Wendy’s, Hinge, Cox, Adobe, Vanity Fair, and Lexus. Her score for Proctor and Gamble’s “The Talk” won her a London International Award for Original Music. Because she is a self-taught composer, she embraces the idea that there are no rules in music. She currently resides in Los Angeles.
